A quieter week this week thankfully, but the racing was still HOT!!! The less young and more knowledgeable among you will remember the name Joe Bayfield, as a few years back it was synonymous with quality riding. Team Harrods might ring a bell or two? Well, he's on the comeback trail, as everyone found out at Reading track a couple of weeks ago and at Eelmore tonight!!! I even warned the E/1/2 field that he was lurking near the back and they just shrugged and laughed, but they weren't laughing when he made the lead break and he couldn't be held back when Jamie Newall attacked again and Joe went with him! With Jamie doing a bit more work to stay away, "gentleman Joe", as Jamie put it, "let" him take the win. Fortunately for Joe he has a reasonable team of awcycles.co.uk riders backing him up too, so he was well defended up front. They still have a few tactical lessons to learn, but they are learning them fast and with Joe as a team leader, it won't be long before they are showing other Central and SE clubs and teams some clean heels! Be warned all out there!!!

In the 3/4's, Lewis Atkins (Glendene CC/Biketrax), riding tired from a 2nd place at Hillingdon the evening before, once again took the race by the scruff of the neck to win alone after spending many laps away off the front. Garry Clark from Evans Cycles RT continues to impress with his aggressive riding and impressive "jump". He's quick to leave a bunch and cross a gap, and with a little more tactical awareness, experience and fitness, will soon be winning events well above his current level (in my humble opinion). The rest, as per usual, fought it out in a gallop, with Phil Sheehan (Fit-For RT) and Angus MacInness (RAF CC) taking the next couple of places with strong sprint finishes.

In the youths it was a dead heat for the leading two after sportingly doing some bit and bit with under 10 rider Harvey Watson. Nice one guys!

A special mention goes to Dean Frost (Liphook Cycles RT) who came back from Belgium at the weekend after riding the World Cup Masters Mtb Cross Country event. He placed 22nd in his age group on what was some very technical and hilly terrain against the best age groupers in the world. Well done Deano!

Thanks again to Lorraine, Phil and Jim for doing the judging and helping with signing on. There was the odd "blip" tonight, but it was all handled perfectly well. Thanks also to Nigel Dickinson for helping out with the crash victims. Nothing worse than a few grazes and broken pride thankfully!

If you would like to be part of a successful club that supports and encourages riders at all levels and of all standards, please contact Gary Kristensen MBE via the website "Contact Us" link on www.agiskoviner.com. We are particularly looking for Youths and Juniors to supplement our Development Squad, as well as seasoned time triallists looking for national medals!
