PrestigeVC.com/Viner/MAR Support Services Eelmore Circuit race # 12 Wed 28th July 04 Youths Report Four signed on but only 3 raced as James Boyman used it as a warm up for the ride up into the 3/4's race. Toby Meadows benefited from this with a win, which will do no harm towards the overall points total, which will be updated in the next week or two once I get some free time. Results 1 Toby Meadows Beyond Mtb's 3/4/W/V/J Report With the lure of several primes to kick start some action, the 3/4's once again decided they knew best and rode round to a bunched finish. Well, obviously it wasn't that simple, but it may as well have been as that is what happened! There was certainly some effort put into winning the primes, though people want to look at who's off the front before deciding to make that huge effort to sprint up the home straight in the hapless belief they have won something. WRONG! The first person over the line wins the prime at Eelmore, not first person from a chasing bunch! It did make some of us laugh, and I was called mean on a couple of occasions, and I did feel mean.....................for 3 micro seconds (mental note - must work on that!). James Boyman was extremely greedy and won 3 with Nigel Meadows hanging out for more than a full lap off the front for his. Dave Ravenhill sounded as if he was fixing bayonets and attacking "jonny foreigner" over the top and out of the trenches in the pursuit for his, while Keir O'Donnell rode strong for his and Adrian Brown had been off the front for some laps at the time anyway. Various items ranging from a few 2003 limited edition TDF magazines and "cycling weekly" water bottles courtesy of the Guildford Crit organisers, plenty of Allsports International Energy Products nutty energy bars, some Go bars, a couple of empty plastic bags, an Allsports T-Shirt and some SR3 energy powder. Nothing too fantastic, but prizes all the same, free for those willing to shed some sweat and effort. In the sprint, it was local lad and Youth James Boyman who tipped the win, just edging out private member Dan McEwan, who will be looking for a club when he takes up his University slot in Cardiff. Someone ought to sign him up quickly! Results 1 James Boyman Team Luciano E/1/2 Report A fairly low turn out was disappointing, considering the weather, but there was a big road race on earlier in the day, so that will have taken a few away. Evans RT were out in force and it was an early foray by Justin Hoy that upped the pace and unsettled the rhythm immediately. He was eventually reeled in, but that was the cue for another Evans man to clip off the front and try his hand. This was pretty much the theme until Steve Farmer (Evans RT) rode away strongly and no chase was organised. BY the end he had almost half a lap on the field, but he had been showing signs of fatigue in the last few laps, but it was still a good ride as he had spent the best part of 15 laps out on his own. The rest had strung out somewhat with Evans RT riders dotted among them, sat on and working to ensure no momentum was maintained in any real chasing group. This allowed Justin Hoy to take second and John Veness 4th. All in all a good team effort from Evans. Special mention to first time E/1/2 racer (new 2nd cat on Monday!!!) Andrew Self (Pedalon.co.uk) who was off the back, then got back on and managed to hang on until the finish, which is a really good effort for Eelmore, which you'll agree with if you have experienced the racing here. Well done fella! Result 1 Steve Farmer Evans RT Thanks are due BIG TIME to last weeks organisers (in my absence) Jim Bates from Farnborough and Camberley CC and Lorraine Day (Lee Day's mum), along with all the usual helpers who turn up week in and week out or help out when I get home and need attending to cause I'm feeling tired and hungry!! THANKS LOTS EVERYONE.
