May 21, 2000 - Bec CC - E/1/2/3/4 - Lingfield - 77 miles

Gaining 50 yards when he attacked on a long drag, one and a half miles from the finish, Gary Baker came in ahead of a strung-out leading group to win.
Almost from the start, Tim Bayley and Rowan Horner escaped from the field and were clear by themselves for 30 miles before being joined by Tom Rowan and Andy Proffitt (Anglia Sport).
Proffitt, who had won the race fro the three previous years, punctured as they completed the thrid lap, eventually retiring, and at the 51-mile mark the three survivors were joined by Baker, Chris MacNamara, Steve Dennis and Gary Dodd.
Baker made his bid fro freedom as they took the long drag through Dormansland, but after failing to get a sufficient gap he bided his time until a lap later.
