Training zones described in terms of percentage of maximum heart rate
training zone percentage of maximum heartrate duration of sessions blood lactate (mm)
recovery below 60% less than 1 hr under 1.0
zone 1 60-65% 1hr 30min to 6hr 1-1.5
zone 2 65-75% 1-4hr 1.5-2.0
zone 3 75-82% 45min to 2 hr 2.0-2.5
zone 4 82-89% 30min to 1hr 2.5-3.5
zone 5 89-94% 15-40min 3.5-6.0
zone 6 94% and above 4-10min or intervals over 6.0
