group - winter dates 11 Nov Saturday Newchapel timetable doors open/ hall booked from : 12.00 aim to be on the road: 12.15 - 12.20 aim to be finished: 2.30 hall booking ends: 3.00 The reason for picking this weekend is that it is four weeks after what should be your first training venture of the winter .a bumper session at Hillingdon. Hillingdon is a new venture and the hard work of organising it is thankfully not mine - it's Janet Birkmyre and Bex Hopkins. You've already had two email notifications through Glyn Durrant who has the Surrey League's list of women riders. Latest news is that 21 have signed up and a further 21 are putting their cheques in the post. So if you're not already making moves, get yourself committed. The Hillingdon Cycle Circuit venture on October 15 is a collaboration between SheCycles.com and Surrey League. I'm there to make a coaching contribution. After that it's back to Newchapel which offers us changing facilities in a village hall and a quiet three-mile circuit on flat roads in the Surrey countryside. Programme new riders riding in a bunch, getting used to being close to other handlebars riding at the front riding in a line following another rider's wheel after 30mins, we'll split into two groups exercises for riders with racing
experience attacking before a corner alone as a pair attacking The venue Some riders had difficulty in finding Newchapel last winter so here's some info to help: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=535250&y=142750&z=3&sv=535250,142750&st=4&ar= You're looking for the area in the centre of the map, a rural area mid-way between Smallfield (which is east of Horley) and Newchapel, shown as being on the A22 (look to the west of Lingfield). You should see a circle of brown roads that's the circuit and the hall is on one of them. If you find yourself at Horne Golf Club on Croydonbarn Lane, then just 50m away is a T-junction leading into Bones Lane. Turn into Bones Lane and continue for a mile until you come to a hamlet. The village hall is there on the right. The map shows a yellow road with Horne Park Farm on one side of it and a couple of building and a telephone symbol marked on the opposite side . the village hall is one of those two buildings. If you come from the opposite direction: leave the A22 at the roundabout, following the B2028 heading west towards Crawley. Take a minor road to the right in just 300m, follow it for 500m and at the T-junction go left. You'll find the village hall on your left in 400m. John Leitch - Coach |
