training day for 3rd Cat and 4th Cat male riders and women's team series riders

venue: Leigh village hall

Saturday 11 December starting at 12.00

timetable: doors open 11.30am
group heads off 12.00 noon
hall booking ends 3.00pm

the plan:

part one involves heading off towards Charlwood, reversing the direction taken in Surrey League races, as far as the Fox Revived pub. The plan is to then do five laps of a tiny 2-mile circuit involving the steep climb up the pub on every lap.

Looking at: individually a full-on attack up the hill so you can use the format on your own for interval training in the spring in groups some individuals attacking before the foot of the climb some individuals attacking on the final 10% of the climb some individuals attacking on the flat after the climb ie while others in the group are still recovering

then a gentle ride back to Leigh and moving onto a quiet straight stretch of road to look at:

handling a practical situation where you are in a group of three and the individual who is the strongest won't come through and you are 1km from the finish line 2km from the finish line thinking about communication collaboration

So on the road for perhaps 2 hours all told.

In the past we had one rider who arrived two hours late having been to Leigh in Kent (I didn't realise there was such a place).

To find this Leigh on the map, find the mid-point of the main road (A25) running between Dorking and Reigate. There is a roundabout at this mid-point and if you head southwards from here, passing through Betchworth and crossing the river Mole, you then drive through fields for a mile or so before reaching a T-junction. This is Leigh and the hall is to your right after about 200m…. it's right opposite the cricket field.
