Stage 2 Course Details

Headquarters: Handcross Parish Hall, High Street, Handcross, Sussex RH17 6BJ

Time of Start: 12:00

Course Details: Proceed southwards through Handcross High Street, bear R at the end and over a mini-Rab.  In Lower Beeding bear L and TL onto the A281 down Crabtree Hill to Cowfold (6.0).  Go So over 2 mini-rabs towards Henfield.  TL onto the B2116 (10.30) to Albourne. TR and 1st L to Hurstpierpoint (14.7).  TL in village squeezing through 2 traffic-calming islands to large RaB.  Take 2nd exit dir Ansty.  In Ansty TL and then SO at mini-rab (19.0). Take the 1st exit at the next RaB to Cuckfield.  Go through village and over two mini-rabs to Whitemans Green (20.9).  Take 2nd exit to Balcombe and the climb to Cowdray Forest (KoM 26.2).  TL onto the B2110 to Handcross.  At mini-rab take the 1st exit through Handcross (29.1) and then bear R, over a mini-rab to Lower Beeding.  Bear L and then TL onto the A281 to Cowfold. (35.3).  TL at the 2 mini-rabs onto the A272 to Bolney.  Go under the A23 and take the 2nd exit to Ansty.  In Ansty take the 1st exit towards Cuckfield.  At the RaB take the 1st exit to go through Cuckfield .   Go through village and over two mini-rabs to Whitemans Green (42.8).  START of CIRCUIT. Take 2nd exit to Balcombe and the climb to Cowdray Forest (KoM 48.1, 60.7 and 73.6).  TL onto the B2110 to Handcross.  At mini-rab take the 1st exit through Handcross (51.0, 63.9 and 76.5). Bear L at the end of the High Street to Whitemans Green (55.4 and 68.3).  On the 3rd circuit TR at Staplefield Green (78.2) to start the next circuit.  (Four laps of 5.3 miles)  TL into Staplefields Road. TL  and L again in Warninglid onto B2115.  TL at Slough Green onto B2036 back to Staplefield.  TL at the Green to complete circuit. Finish and Hot Spot Sprints by the Cricket pavilion.

Hot Spots Primes: By cricket pavillion in Slaugham Lane, Staplefield (82.5, 86.8 & 91.1 miles).

K.o.M: Cowdray Forest (cat 2) (26.2, 48.1, 60.7 & 73.6 miles). Warninglid (cat 3) (79.7, 84.0 & 88.3 miles).

Finish Point: By cricket pavillion in Slaugham Lane, Staplefield.

Race Distance: 95.6 miles, 153.4 kilometers.

Long Dragging Climbs on ‘dead’ surfaces but with a few flat bits thrown in to give you some relaxation.  NB There is a Speed camera on Crabtree Hill.   Please do not exceed 40 mph.  If too many of you do it the camera might blow up – now there’s a thought!
