Day
5 - Tuesday 23 August, is based at Crowborough and the Ashdown Forest in East
Sussex. HQ Church Hall, Crowborough.
Dreamland! Everything one wants for a great stage - if you are a spectator!
If you like long drags, steep hills, fast descents and beautiful scenery this is
for you. Not a bit of flat anywhere and your introduction to 'The Wall'.
Go
through Crowborough Town Centre Traffic Lights. The Race is de-neutralised when all race
traffic has negotiated the lights.
At
LYE GREEN bear right onto the B2188 to GROOMBRIDGE. Turn left onto the B21 10. Turn left
into Ladies Mile (KoM point) then at MOTTS MILL turn left onto the B20188 to complete the
circuit. (6.1). Complete another 6 laps (10.3, 14.5,18.7, 22.9 and 27.1). (There will be a
lap board at Motts Mill). At the end of the 7th lap (31.3) turn right onto the
B2188 to LYE GREEN where bear right to FRIARS GATE. Just passed the pub turn left into St
Leonards Hill to CROWBOROUGH. After the KoM turn left to LYE GREEN (36.8). Repeat this
circuit (41.8). Go straight on at FRIARS GATE on the B2188 to the KoM point. Turn right at
KINGSTANDING onto the B2026 (45.2). Continue along the B2026 to HARTFIELD where turn left
along the B2110. Turn left to COLEMANS HATCH then left again passing to the left of 'The
Hatch'. Drop and then climb The Wall to GILLS LAP and the junction with the B2026.
Complete this circuit three times. (52.8, 59,4 and 66.0). At the end of the third circuit
turn right onto the B2026 to KINGSTANDING. Turn left through FRIARS GATE to LYE GREEN.
Turn right to Crowborough to Finish by the '30' Sign entering the town. Distance 71.8
miles.
